Arcana Mundi — Economy and Eccentricity

“Profuse strains of unpremeditated art.”
(Shelley)
A rock is a perfect metaphor, an allegory in volume. When placed it’s sculptural limits beget a kind of artistic proposition — and when considered with reduced anthropomorphism and ungeologically — produce a ready-made analog to the causation and bounds of our attempts at the understanding of all things.

Siyuan Wang, born in China in 1995, spent his formative years there. He successfully completed his architectural education at Hunan University from 2013 to 2018, culminating in a bachelor's degree. Subsequently, from 2019 to 2021, he pursued and obtained a master's degree at TU Delft in the Netherlands.

Starting his journey in photography in 2014, Siyuan Wang has undertaken numerous photography projects worldwide, including USA, Norway, Iceland, Italy, as well as various regions in China such as Gansu, Heilongjiang, Yunnan, and Xinjiang. In his works, he places a greater emphasis on exploring the relationship between nature and people under different geographical conditions and various social development scenarios. Similarly, he explores the connection between people and history in the context of modern life, examining enduring elements such as architecture, customs, ancient pathways and books, and so on, that have persisted from ancient times to the present.

Siyuan Wang sees photography as a harmonious intersection of the subjective and objective worlds. Through the lens, he believes one can reshape their observations, infusing a personalized expression into the captured moments.

Siyuan Wang currently resides in Rotterdam, leading a life as both an architect and a photography artist.
